(Dieselstar’s mother is by Greenkaand the kits are by Kamira, I wrote the rest. Thanks for contributing lives, guys!)
Dieseltooth approached the mothermouth, her ears twitching forward as her pace slowed. She paced around the opening in the rock, making certain that she had the right one, before setting her jaw and dipping into the shadows. She walked forward in the dank cavern, the last of the light fading away and leaving her in pitch black as she continued until slowly it faded into a deep grey and she could make out the outline of the cavern before her. Then it was upon her. The moonstone was a brilliantly white against the grey, dusty floor. She opened her mouth to scent the air and circled it, gingerly stepping over dried bones. I thought it was a myth… she reflected, then settled down in front of it and tapped her nose to the surface.
When she opened her eyes again, she was surrounded by starry cats. Dieseltooth sat up, looking around herself as she got her bearings, then rose to her feet as a small, vaguely fat tom approached.
"I am Moonstar, the founder of the clans." He touched his nose to the deputy's forehead. "With this life I give you wisdom, use it well to guide your clan through the many difficult times you will encounter."
Dieseltooth gasped with pain as Moonstar stepped away, his footsteps as light as linden leaves against the mossy ground. As Dieseltooth recovered, Fallenstar approached the new leader and dipped her head to Dieseltooth. "I am Fallenstar, the founder of NightClan." She stepped the last tail-length to the new leader and touched her nose to her head. "With this life I give you mercy, use it well and your clan will grow stronger, not weaker."
The pain disappeared, but Dieseltooth’s head was left spinning as Briarpath, a founding EclipseClan warrior, stepped forward and delivered her life: “With this life I give you contentment. Be content with what you have and what your circumstances are-- running yourself ragged over an idealized future doesn’t serve your clan, it only distracts from preserving what you do have.”
This time, pain slammed against her like a wave, leaving her no time to recover when Hailstar marched toward the deputy and meowed, his deep voice echoing across the Starry forest. “With this life I give you loyalty. Be loyal to the code, to your allies, to your clanmates, to your ideals, and to your history. Never indulge in thinking that you stand apart from these things; that is a weakness, never a strength.”
The lives were relentless, the unfamiliar cats faces blurring together when Icewind approached, her shoulder blades sticking out of her pelt as even in death she was notably thin. She dipped her head to the deputy and spoke, her voice raspy. “I am Icewind of NightClan. With this life, I give you devotion: devotion to your clan, devotion to your ideals, and devotion to those you love. If you devote yourself to these things, no one can ask more from you.”
Finally, a pause. Dieseltooth’s breaths came in shallow pants as she stood up again, surprised to find herself cringing on the ground and with a shaky breath she looked up at the cat who approached.
“Mom?” She meowed, her voice barely louder than a whisper.
A black thin and tall she-cat trotted towards the new leader, when she approached, she touched her nose on Dieselstar's nose, after that, she step back, and she spoke calmly, ''Hello dear, it's good to see you big and strong as your father once was! With this life, I give you compassion, you should understand the feelings of your clanmates and respect them for who they are, after all, the life is not all about power as i thought when i was alive'' she smiled at Dieselstar, she approached again, and licked her shoulder, ''I'm proud of you.'' she purred, and step back again. Dieseltooth watched as she disappeared into the crowd, her familiar scent lingering.
Once the black she-cat had stepped away from Dieseltooth, two small forms broke from the paws of the ranks of StarClan, forcing Dieseltooth to look down if she ever hoped to see them. Their bellies were no taller than the tops of her paws and they were closer to size to a newborn rabbit than a kit, but they existed in the afterlife as fully formed children, much in contrast to the pink-veined bloody mass they were in life. Dieseltooth would remember burying them, and their solid bodies were a testament to how much Fencewalker thought of them, even though they'd never had a chance. The pale yellow tabby and abyssinian kits looked up at their would-be mother with olive green eyes, forcing Dieseltooth to bend down to touch noses with them both.
The larger kit spoke first, pressing its pink nose upwards into Dieseltooth, its paws on her chest to reach. Its voice was loud, innocent, and troubled. "With this life, I give you War. May you use it wisely to protect those you care for, detect duplicity in those you seek asylum with, and join our ranks knowing you fought for what you believed in." The kit stepped back and the yellow tabby took its place, its voice softer and shyer, with the frenzied rhythm of nervousness poking underneath. "With this life, I give you Peace. Please, use it to find time for meditation in the most frenzied of battles, and to know that the ultimate goal of it all is to end the fighting for good." Once finished, the kits stepped back, the smaller one with a saddened and nostalgic look towards her, like it had something to say but wasn't allowed to. With a look from its sibling, it turned and walked away, and the two joined the ranks once more.
The vision broke like shattered glass, leaving Dieseltooth lying in the dank cavern. She felt as though she had not slept in days, run ragged and hungry, though as she looked into the stone she knew that little time had passed. With one final glance, she started out again, trying to put what had occurred out of mind. I can’t tell her about the kits. That was too long ago.
Nightwhisper paused. He’d been ranting, and raving, and the weren't listening. “I’m not crazy...” He softly called after them. He sat down, trying his hardest to hold it all in, but he couldn’t. He cried. He fell to the cold floor, his tears, salty and heavy, streamed down his face. He didn know anything anymore. Was he even doing anything worthwhile? What was he even doing? Was he crazy?
Crazy or not, Nightwhisper decided, he had some mission. And if he was crazy, then at least hed be on some island, where he couldn’t hurt anyone.
Pushing himself to his feet, he slowly calmed down, building up the walls around his heart again, and setting off for EarthClan territory.
The she-cat looked around, half expecting the other medicine cats to emerge from the shadows and crack a joke. No medicine cat had actually spoken with StarClan in ages, several generations ago. The belief in them was fading, though she still believed in them, many others did not. She was sure of one thing; medicine cats didn't get prophecies anymore. Perhaps this Nightpaw- Nightwhisper- was a bit off his rocker. The tortoiseshell she-cat was concerned for EarthClan. Maybe she should speak to their leader the next Gathering.
"Er, okay." she meowed, unsure if he would threaten her or continue with his odd ramblings. "Your mission is safe with me." She decided she had enough of this nonsense and padded back out quickly, her small paws carrying her swiftly back home to MoonClan.
Nightpaw looked up. “Nightwhisper. My name is Nightwhisper. And I have...a mission now. A destiny to fufill. Perhaps, only perhaps will I be able to help.“ He walks in circles around the stone, musing. “I must leave, and soon. They can’t know.“ Nightwhisper looked up, his eyes wide, the black centers of his eyes shining with light, looking like stars in a clear night sky. “You must not tell anyone.” He approached her, staring deeply at her. Despite his disheveled outwardly appearence, he smelled rather pleasant, like lavender, and stone. “Do you understand? My mission could be comprised if others know.”
Endlessdream had come from a far away land, but she had only been a kit then and knew nothing of other sacred places. What she did know was that this tom wasn't an ordinary medicine cat. She hadn't heard the others talk about stuff like this, anyway. She crouched on the cool stone floor and listened to his story, suddenly wondering if there really were other Moonstones where she came from. Her deep blue eyes sparkled in the dark cave. It seemed like they were the only cats in the world now. "I'm not sure; maybe, probably." she answered. This couldn't be the only place to walk with StarClan. The tiny she-cat knew the world was so much bigger than the clans thought.
He sighed. “I’m not sure. Things feel tense, all around...” For a moment, his eyes changed from hard and distrusting, to soft and sad. ”But I maintain hope, that we can keep it together. It’s the only thing I can do.” He turned to the moonstone. “Do you think there are others out there, just like it? The moonstone, I mean.” He paused for a moment, turning to her. “Sometimes, in my dreams, in the endless miles of black, I see them. Places where the world feels different, like the Moonstone. But they all look different.” He transfixed his gaze on the rock. It’s probably just my imagination acting up again. But it feels more real than that.”
After calming down, she re-entered the cave, wanting answers from the strange tom. She came upon him again. "Congrats." she said cautiously, this time keeping her distance in case he had another episode of some kind. "How is EarthClan doing?"
(For clarification, since it seems necessary at this point, the spirit is NOT Starclan. It is a ghost, like sort of like Fallen Leaves in the books, a spirit who never made it, but is deter to help their clan nonetheless.)
The small raggedy tom stared at her. “...Sorry. I get like this sometimes. The days, the uh...they’ve begun to meld together. I-I’m Nightpaw, and I’m about to become a full Medicine Cat. Apologies for the shaky introduction, and dire circumstances.”
The she-cat suddenly felt smaller than she was, like a kit, vulnerable and helpless. They normally didn't speak to StarClan themselves. The tom spoke in riddles, and it concerned her. Was EarthClan alright? She listened as the paw steps faded away deeper into the tunnel, and she felt like the walls of stone were closing in on her. She darted forward in the direction she came, following the scent of fresh air. Her paws slipped on the moisture of the cool rock and she tumbled down the tunnel before regaining her footing again. Where were the other two medicine cats? What was going on?
Nightpaw paced at the cave enteance. “A ghost, fallen from it’s place amonst the stars, a warrior of the stars no longer. Voices, imagery, all of it.“ He faces Endlessdream. “What could it mean?!” He turns away, disappearing into the tunnel, his voice softly echoing in the darkness...
The she cat jumped back at his sudden movement. "I'm Endlessdream..." she said slowly, hoping not to step on his nerves anymore. "I'm the MoonClan medicine cat." she explained carefully. "Is- is something wrong?" she stammered. She didn't think that a medicine cat would be so on edge unless they had recieved some kind of horrible message from StarClan..
An unusually small colorful she-cat padded briskly through the night, hoping she wasn't late. With the whole Fencestar gathering ordeal, she barely had time to rest. Luckily, MoonClan had no major injuries or sickness this leaf-bare. StarClan was content with them for now. Endlessdream wondered if they would speak to her about the Blossomstar appointment... it wasn't the traditional way. Her heart pounded as she entered the cave and her fur bristeled at the sudden drop of temperature. There was a fresh scent of EarthClan already here. She padded deeper into the cave and sniffed her way around, following the musky scent. The she-cat finally reached the other cat and she settled down next to him. "Hello." she greeted the tom quietly.
Nightpaw‘s eyes snapped open, as he looked around, in shock. The Moonstone. He was at the Moonstone?! He’d been by the lake when he closed his eyes, what in the name of StarClan ws going on? He took deep, shaky breaths, and sat down, trembling. “Whats’s happening to me?”
He heard the spirit in his head exhale. “Okay, look. I really wish I knew. But I don’t. But I think it finally time you know why I was sent.“ The shimmering cat sat on the forest floor, between the yawning mouth of the cave. ”There’s a clan, far away from here, and it’s dying. It doesn’t have a medicine cat, as both of it’s old ones died in an accident. I am one of their ancestors, and I was sent to find someone to travel to my clan, and train a new medicine cat.”
Nightpaw said nothing for a moment. “And...they need help.”
The spirit cat nodded. “They are succumbing to sicknes, and have no one to help guide them. They need you.”
The medicine cat in training let out a deep breath. “Okay. Fine. But just, give me a couple days to perpare...” ’This doesn’t explain everything,‘ he thought. ‘But at least things are beginning to make sense.’
(Post for Spot, sorry this is so late! I could have sworn I'd already posted it.)
Cranestrike padded to the Moonstone, Veinpool at his side and another warrior close by. 'This is it...A sparkling pool in the midst of a cave...If Starclan is real, please let them be with us now.' The young leader thought and let out a low sigh as he approached the pool, lay down and carefully closed his eyes.
A blurry picture fled into his mind as he found himself walking within seamless clouds that lined a beautiful forest path. 'Where am I? This can't be real...' The chausie wondered as his head looked down to his glistening paws, his pale green gaze widened when the ground began to crack into pieces. A hollow roar echoed through the misty air soon enough. "Believe, you must believe in us!" The muscular tom nodded slowly and looked up with sudden awe to see a large group of gleaming cats gathering around him. He felt the ground with his paws, and it was no longer breaking. It was soft and light. "Welcome to Starclan, let the ceremony commence!" One of the cats meowed in an loud, but airy voice.
Moonstar approached the new leader and dipped his head with a small grin. "I am Moonstar, the founder of the clans." He touched his nose to the Cranestrikes's forehead. "With this life I give you wisdom, use it well to guide your clan through the many difficult times you will encounter." The touch made Cranestrike flinch, as though it were electricity running into his veins. Next
, A spindly, dull tabby she-cat approached the deputy and greeted them with a smile. “I am Coyotespirit, a warrior of SunClan. With this life I give you belonging-- you are not above your warriors, but rather one of them. Use this life to understand your place within the clan and take refuge in your warriors.” The chausie tom held himself from thanking the molly, but a smile
approached his muzzle.
Yuccathorn approached Cranestrike with her characteristic long strides, as if even in death she was rushing between tasks. She touched her nose to the leader’s forehead and meowed, “With this life I give you resolve. To lead your clan effectively you must always be firm in your decisions once they have been made, or your clan will not know what to expect from you.”
Aloetooth trotted toward the new leader, her tail flicking behind her. “With this life I give you curiosity. Without curiosity, you will never learn and cannot make the risks required to succeed. Use this life well to expand your- and your clan’s- horizon.”
Laurelspring trotted to the new leader and gave a dip of her head out of respect before granting her life. “With this life I give you hope. With hope, your clan will never forget the love that is left in the world, even when everything seems to be against you.”
Hailstar marched toward the deputy and meowed, his deep voice echoing across the Starry forest. “With this life I give you loyalty. Be loyal to the code and to your clanmates, to your ideals and to your history. Never indulge in thinking that you stand apart from these things; that is a weakness, never a strength.”
Wheatspot stepped forward, a proud and cheery grin on his mouth from ear to ear as he looked back towards his family for a moment then turned back to Cranestrike. “Hiya! With this life, I give you love. Remember to love your clan, family, and friends even when times get rough. Love will find its way.” The golden tom with one large brown spot padded into the group again after touching the leader’s shoulder.
Horizonsight brushed passed his father, a bold smirk running across the muscular tom’s face as he strode up to Cranestrike. He touched his nose to Cranestrike’s shoulder as well. “With this life, I give you strength. This maybe an obvious life to give, but it will do you well in battles and keep SunClan strong when others may assume that is isn’t.” His tail twitched and the two-toned gaze of the tom faltered to Anatstar as he walked away.
Agaveroot, a SunClan warrior, approached the deputy with his characteristic caution. He respectfully dipped his head and meowed, “With this life I give you patience. Use it well to guide your clan through the toughest times they will encounter, as all cats- from the tiniest kit to the strongest warrior- will need your patience.”
“You will now be known as Cranestar, leader of SunClan and the one who carries nine lives. We wish you well as you go through your journey.”
The newly named Cranestar woke up with a shake, the soft ground now replaced by cold stone that he walked. “Let us go home, now.” He meowed to those who followed him along and padded back to the camp. (SC camp)

A chilly wind kicked up and howled through the mothermouth, ruffling Nightpaw's pelt.

(SC camp)
