It has been a very eventful month on the roleplay! MoonClan and DawnClan have prospered at the expense of NightClan and SunClan. In a devastatingly effective attack they were able to force their enemies to surrender and demand the life of Frozenstar, leader of NightClan. The herb to cure the sickness has now been spread throughout the clans, but the war is showing no signs of stopping. Outside of the roleplay, this past month we have welcomed a number of new members to the roleplay, I hope that you’re all enjoying the site! Over the next few weeks I will be going through the website and cleaning things up, it would be a great help if everyone could go over the pages and make sure that all of their characters are listed correctly. Post any corrections on the character updates page. The topic of this Monthly Meow will be the territories of the clans, thank you Jay for suggesting this topic.
The original territories share very little resemblance with our current maps. MoonClan was originally intended to be the only clan, located on a large tree-less plain. They were placed some considerable distance from the forests of StormClan’s eventual territory, which explains why the clans were able to exist without interacting with each other. There were no defined landmarks except for the clan and the Moonstone, which was placed in the center of MoonClan’s territory. As the BoneClan plot came into full swing and the website began to gather a small handful of members, the territories gradually began to be thought of as being directly next to each other, with MoonClan being in a territory similar to canon ThunderClan’s and BoneClan similar to RiverClan’s.
After the BoneClan plot ended, the city was introduced for the first time. Where exactly the city was, was not originally defined. Following the same pattern as MoonClan and RiverClan/BoneClan/StormClan, it was originally hinted at being far from the clans, only to be directly next to MoonClan by the time that Hawk and Silverstar died. Raven’s War led to the creation of two major landmarks in the city: Blizzard’s Bar and Raven’s Fortress. Blizzard’s Bar could be seen from MoonClan’s border with the city, while Raven’s Fortress was placed at the edge of the city, but not near MoonClan. At the end of the war, Hawk’s Tree was described as being in a central location between MoonClan, StormClan’s former territory, and the newly formed NightClan, on the lip of a steep ravine. This is what established the river as the border between MoonClan and NightClan, which previously had been brushed over.
Origam’s Palace came into being shortly after the end of Raven’s War, located next to Blizzard’s Bar. A few months after the start of Fallenstar’s war, a portion of then-NightClan’s territory was scorched in a forest fire. This was largely overlooked in the roleplay, until the area was sectioned out in a map and became one of the most fought over stretches of territory in the clans.
The first maps were made in between the foundation of DawnClan and SunClan, and looked like this:

Ugly and rather difficult to read, I know. While there are a few landmarks listed, many of the ones that are included on the map we are using currently aren’t, or are listed as being in different places. For example, the gathering clearing is placed in MoonClan’s territory. Using Hawk’s Tree as the gathering clearing is a fairly recent change, introduced with the last big map update in the June of 2014.
Around January of 2014 we began to use the current layout of the map, and that June more landmarks were added to MoonClan, SunClan, and DawnClan, such as the sandy hollow and abandoned barn. At that time, maps were also created of the clans’ camps. With the new maps, changes in territory have become more common, particularly in the area between the thunderpath and river.
